Mallapadi Fort

The trail leads to the remains of a hill fort that formed part of the Baramahal fortification system. The climb begins with rock-cut steps before continuing on a marked trail to the Anjaneya Temple. Beyond the temple, the route becomes unmarked, requiring a short cross-country traverse through bushes to reach the summit. The final ascent leads to the fort ruins, where gateways, sections of fortification walls, and rock-cut water storage tanks are still visible. Although the hike is relatively short, it combines historical remains with open views across the surrounding plains, including the Chennai–Bengaluru Highway winding through coconut groves below.

Jagadevi Fort is one of the historic Baramahal forts in the Krishnagiri region. Built by Jagadevaraya during the Vijayanagara period, the fort spans three adjoining hilltops and preserves substantial stretches of its defensive walls, gateways, bastions, and other masonry. The trail climbs through scrub-covered slopes interspersed with rocky sections before reaching the lower fortifications. As the ascent continues, additional gateways, walls, and ruined structures appear across the hilltops, reflecting the fort's extensive defensive layout. The summit preserves further fort remains and offers views of the surrounding hills and plains.
