About this trail#

Kaiwara Betta is a granite hill above the pilgrimage town of Kaiwara in Chikkaballapur, managed under Karnataka Ecotourism. Kaiwara is a long-standing Vaishnava pilgrimage site: its temples are linked to the Prahlada legend from the Bhagavata Purana. The hill reportedly carries a shrine at the top, drawing pilgrims alongside trekkers. The trail climbs from the edge of town through dry deciduous scrub before the vegetation opens onto exposed granite on the upper slopes.

Permits & Access

🔒 Permit required

Kaiwara Betta is managed under the Karnataka Ecotourism programme. Permits must be booked online before your visit. If you arrive at the gate without one, the ranger will direct you to book on the spot, but mobile connectivity at the trailhead is unreliable and daily slot limits can be reached by the time you arrive. Book the permit the day before at the latest.
