Narasimhaswamy Betta Trek: 77 Trekkers, Ages 6 to 77, One Unforgettable StepOut Experience Some treks are about reaching the top. Others remind us why we started walking in the first place. Our 51st StepOut Trek to Narasimhaswamy Betta was a beautiful reminder of what trekking truly means. With 77 participants ranging from 6 to 77 years of age, we brought together three generations through a shared love for nature, adventure, fitness and self-discovery. What made this trek special? Not just the panoramic views, natural greenery and rocky terrain, but the opportunity to experience them together on a peaceful trail without the crowds. For me, as the founder of StepOut – Discover Yourself, this is what makes every trek meaningful. What makes Narasimhaswamy Betta worth visiting? Narasimhaswamy Betta offers an enjoyable outdoor experience for people who want to step away from their everyday routine and reconnect with nature. During our visit, we enjoyed: Greenery and natural scenery that made the walk refreshing. Panoramic views that rewarded us along the way. Rocky terrain that added a touch of adventure. A peaceful, uncrowded trail that allowed our group to enjoy the surroundings without the pressure of heavy crowds. Our group found the trail easy, and the trek took approximately 2–3 hours. As with any trek, the actual experience can vary depending on weather, trail conditions, fitness levels and the pace of the group. When is the best time to visit Narasimhaswamy Betta? Based on our experience and the seasonal character of the landscape, monsoon and winter are the seasons I would recommend for a more enjoyable visit. Monsoon: For greenery and a refreshing landscape The rainy season can bring lush surroundings and a fresh, vibrant look to the hills. However, rocky trails may become slippery, so good-grip footwear and extra caution are essential. Winter: For a more comfortable outdoor experience Winter is a good option for those who want to enjoy the natural scenery and trekking experience without the intense heat associated with summer. Summer: My strong recommendation is to avoid it. Exposed rocky terrain and heat can make a trek uncomfortable and increase the risk of dehydration and heat-related illness. If you are planning a visit, choose a cooler season rather than taking an unnecessary risk. Seasonal conditions vary, so check the local weather before setting out. Trail conditions, water and facilities: What should you know? Here are a few practical points for anyone planning this trek. Trail difficulty: Our group experienced the trail as easy. However, rocky sections can still require careful footing, particularly after rain. Trek duration: Our trek took approximately 2–3 hours. Allow extra time if you are visiting with children, older adults or a larger group. Water availability: We did not establish reliable information about water availability along the trail. Do not assume drinking water will be available. Carry enough water for your trek and bring ORS as a precaution, especially in warm or humid conditions. Facilities: Facilities at the base are limited, so plan ahead. Carry your essentials and do not depend on finding shops or other services when you arrive. Crowds: During our visit, we experienced no crowding. This was a welcome part of the experience, but crowd levels may vary on weekends, holidays and during different seasons. What to carry: Water, ORS, good-grip trekking shoes, a small backpack, a cap, personal medication and light snacks. Carry back every wrapper and piece of waste. The most memorable part: 77 people, one StepOut spirit A trek becomes more meaningful when people of different ages and backgrounds share the same trail. At our 51st trek, participants ranged from just 6 years old to 77 years old. That age range says something important about the role outdoor activities can play in bringing people together. Trekking is not only about physical endurance. It encourages us to move beyond our comfort zones, support one another, appreciate nature and build healthier habits. At StepOut, we believe that the experience matters as much as the destination. We walk together, look out for fellow trekkers and respect the environment we have come to enjoy. Our motto says it all: Discover Yourself. Why I started StepOut – and why we keep trekking As the founder of StepOut, I have always believed that nature offers a powerful way to reconnect with ourselves. In a world where much of our time is spent sitting indoors, looking at screens and managing daily pressures, trekking gives us a reason to move, breathe fresh air and challenge ourselves. StepOut is built around more than organising trips to hills. We want to encourage fitness, endurance, discipline, camaraderie and responsible outdoor experiences.
